A few months ago, Gregg Brekke, a photojournalist and writer, came to our center to know more about our works with the pastoralist and hunter-gatherer communities in Tanzania. He interviewed our staff and students and took photos of our center. We are proud to share the finished article that was released through Maryknoll Magazine. Below are some quotes from the article:
“When I came here, I had a deep sense I was following this call to somehow minister to people in need, I found myself teaching girls.“
“Being with them, accompanying them, supporting them and encouraging them in their own journeys … As the Bible says, toward ‘life to the full’ [John 10:10] — that has been my motto.”
From Sister Mary Vertucci (Maryknoll Sister and Directress of Emusoi Centre)
“When you go [to the village] for the holidays, a lot of people will say, ‘My daughter finished standard seven, please take her with you. They’ve changed. It’s like they’ve broken the ice. Now they know that education is good for girls.”
Teika Simango (Program Officer and former Emusoi Student)
